The 175+ destinations in the Inspirato Collection are the world’s best vacation spots. Combining stunning scenery, endless things to do, and Inspirato’s luxury residences and personal care, these destinations never disappoint.
One place that features all of the above into is Casa de Campo, a master-planned hotel, resort, and residential community located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic (about an hour’s drive west of another member favorite, Punta Cana). Inspirato Member Chad Brown visited Casa de Campo in January and shared the many highlights from his trip. Keep reading to see all of the things Chad recommends in this beautiful Caribbean paradise.
This was my first trip to Casa de Campo and it was absolutely amazing on every level. You will not be disappointed in this trip. I travel a lot, and this was by far the coolest place I've ever been.Chad BrownInspirato Member
7,000 Acres of Activities
Casa de Campo spans 7,000 acres, making it one of the largest and most exclusive resorts in the entire Caribbean. The resort takes full advantage of its sprawling grounds with a plethora of on-site amenities such as a private serviced beach, luxury spa, equestrian center, full-service marina, and much more. There’s even a replica 16th century European village called Altos de Chavón with its own archaeology museum and 5,000-seat amphitheater.
“The resort is huge, but everything is so well kept up and the service was top notch in every respect,” Chad wrote. “We used the cabana rental at the beach ($100 for the entire day – seats 8) which was a treat and we also went out to Catalina Island where the beach is even better than the resort beach.”
Caribbean’s Best Golf
Casa de Campo is home to three acclaimed golf courses, including its crown jewel: Teeth of the Dog, a masterpiece designed by Pete Dye and regularly voted the Caribbean’s’ best. There’s also 27 holes on Dye’s other course, Dye Fore, as well as The Links, an 18-hole course inspired by traditional British designs. Chad and his co-workers made room in their itinerary for several rounds over the course of their week.
I've played golf all over, and Teeth of the Dog might be my favorite of all of them.Chad BrownInspirato Member
“We played golf on the Dye Fore and the Teeth of the Dog and enjoyed it immensely,” Chad wrote. “Dye Fore was dramatic with elevation changes on every hole, but Teeth of the Dog is everything you would dream about in an ocean side course. There just aren’t many courses in the world with nine holes directly on the ocean and some others close enough it feel oceanside. It lives up to its reputation.”
Dining for Every Taste
Nearly 20 restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and other dining experiences are located within Casa de Campo’s grounds. “The food in the restaurants was impressive,” Chad wrote. “Our favorite was SBG at the marina. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere very modern and nice. The bar is very cool as well.”
Dining at home was stellar, too. Each Inspirato Residence in Casa de Campo has a dedicated butler, housekeeper, and chef on hand to cook breakfast and lunch. “The staff, Jose and Endelinda, were fantastic,” Chad wrote. “Jose was a wonderful butler who attended to our every need. He was also a very good cook and the two of them spoiled us with great breakfasts and lunches. Jose was a great bartender as well, mixing up great drinks all day for us while we enjoyed the sun.”
Inspirato’s two residences at Casa de Campo are spacious retreats that blend classic Caribbean and stylish, contemporary designs. As large as 10,232 square feet and accommodating up to 12 people, they feature amenities such as private pools and golf carts for easy transportation around the huge resort.
“First, the villa – WOW. I traveled with five co-workers so we each had our own room,” Chad wrote. “I had the master suite, which was ridiculously wonderful with my own living area, a huge bedroom and walk-in closet and the bathroom with outdoor shower and my own hot tub. This was wonderful. The other rooms were exceptional as well with great en suite bathrooms and large rooms. The main areas of the villa are stunning, especially the pool area that is the centerpiece of the house. We loved the pool and the hot tub, which seats about 10 comfortably and probably more. For six of us it seemed cavernous. Endelinda did laundry for us every day and the evening turndown service was a nice touch.”
